Organizing is the process of bringing together the right resources for any project. The purpose of organization is to establish formal system of roles that team members can follow so that they work together to achieve the enterprise objectives. According to Chester Barnard, “Organizing is a function by which the concern is able to define the role positions, the jobs related and the co-ordination between authority and responsibility. Hence, a Project Manager must be able to achieve effective integration of all resources and functions by considering the interests of the client, project team members, functional managers, support personnel, and other external stakeholders.
The design of individual jobs within the organization is part of Organizing. There are enterprises choose to organize their projects by departments, with separate projects and project teams for sales, IT, operations, marketing, customer support, etc. Others choose to use projects for organizing by specific business project types, such as budgeting, product roadmap, advertising campaigns, customer referrals, etc. Once choosing the type of project structure, this is a good time to bring up important project related information.
All activities which are to be performed as part of project needs to be listed out in the first stage. Thereafter, the project manager needs to combine and group similar and related activities into units or department. The respective teams need to be informed about their responsibilities. The authority and relationships are to be established among various groups to enable smooth interaction toward the achievement of the organizational goal, and need to be communicated.

- Assignment of duties
- Delegation of authority and creation of responsibility
- Coordinating authority and responsibility relationships
